Light box extender Instructions for Photographing Glass Cup Plates by Arch Doty

1. Cut 4 pieces 9" long and 4 pieces 8" long of Aluminum Angle, 1/16" thick
3/4" x 1/2"
( see top photo on right )

2. Drill as appropriate and assemble into two end pieces for the extender, using #6 x 3/8" nuts and bolts ( #6 x 1/2" if you use 1/4" plastic ) ( see top bottom on right )

3. Cut 2 pieces of 1/4" plastic, one clear and one frosted ( translucent ) into 9" x 12" pieces. Drill and assemble the plastic pieces to opposite sides of the end frames.

All of the above parts are available at Home Depot, or other DIY Stores. If you are having difficulty in locating translucent plastic, it is also available on the Internet. If you are unable to locate material, feel free to email: archd@aol.com for help.

Note from Dave McDonnell
I am very grateful to Arch for his continued participation and contributions to all Collectors. The difference between taking the photo directly on the light box and taking the photo on the extender is amazing and makes for a much better image when photographing glass cup plates. Details and glass imperfections are clearly shown. Tip: I always upload photos to my computer, where I can enlarge them for detail. It is absolutely the best and easiest way to view variations and see "hidden" damage.
