R619B Silver Stain found in Freeman's ebay Live Lot
Bill Pearson was the lucky bidder and reported "that It is the stain all over variety ( $7000 in Dolores' Companion ) I also see Green Valley Auctions, April 2004 reported that one in lot 297 sold for $3,850. Mine is slightly better condition. I rate it VG, I sc chip and 3 tipped and a tiny crack 3/8" between 2 scallops. The stain itself is perfect. Freeman's Lot 1490 for $770 included 9 plates: 619B SS, 640x2, 641x2, 667, 675, 677 and 628.

Congratulations Bill... It just shows that when bidding on blind auctions, you have to do your homework, as the lot described it as 9 cup plates including a yellow plate with no photos.

Thank you for helping a Hurricane Katrina Cup Plate Collector
Many of you responded with generosity and kindness when reading the December Newsletter and finding out about the loss suffered by a fellow cup plate collector.

Frederika Page, Dolores Bowler, Arch Doty and myself have sent the first shipment of 450 cup plates to help John to have some kind of a start when he returns back to Louisianna from his temporary stay in Texas. He is presently back in Louisianna, but does not have a permanent address as of yet.

The next group of donated plates will be sent to Texas in February, where friends are keeping them safe for John's new start in life.

The LR56 The "Sun Purple" Controversy

We are going to open Pandora's Box once again in the hopes of adding to our knowledge. This is the perfect forum for the sharing of opinions as they relate to cup plates. One of the main problems that we face is the lack of documentation to prove or disprove cup plate manufacture. The consensus of opinion still remains the best tool available for todays collectors.

LR56 was shown in American Glass Cup Plates in 1948 as clear has been found since the 1950's in light purple. There are 5 known light purple cup plates in the 56. The question of whether these plates were manufactured in this light purple color or were altered through other means is the topic of this discussion."
