Because
many AGCP collectors also collected the early Pairpoint
cup plates as well, this article should be of interest.
The
extraordinary level of interest generated by Pairpoint
cup plates in the years leading up to 1980, when the
100th Plate was made (see illustration to
left), seems unimaginable today almost to the point
of the surreal. Only six years before, in 1974, the
Pairpoint Glass Company of Sagamore, MA had begun to
press small glass plates as custom-designed mementos
for museums, clubs, churches and other organizations.
Each plate measured about 3 1/2 in diameter and
featured a design appropriate to the commissioning group
